Huawei has just released the Mate 60 5G and Mate 60 Pro 5G in China. Many Huawei backers anticipated that the Mate 60 series would be unveiled at a launch event. Huawei Mall (Vmall) was used to announce the devices rather than a press conference. There have been rumors that Huawei will unveil new products like the Mate 60 Pro+ 5G and the Huawei Mate X5 foldable phone at a launch event in September. Without holding a formal launch event, Huawei has also unexpectedly followed suit and listed these products on the Huawei Mall. Features, specifications, and pricing for the Mate X5 are outlined below.
The 6.4-inch OLED LTPO screen on the Huawei Mate X5’s front side features Kunlun glass, an aspect ratio of 20.9:9, a resolution of 2504 x 1080 pixels, and a touch sampling rate of up to 300 Hz. It has a 7.85-inch foldable OLED LTPO display on the inside, with a maximum touch sampling rate of 240 hertz and a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels. Both screens also accommodate a refresh rate of 1Hz-120Hz, 10-bit colors, the P3 color gamut, and high-frequency dimming at 1440Hz. A fingerprint scanner is located on the device’s side for added safety.
The Huawei Mate X5 has a 5,060 mAh battery that can be charged at either 50W wirelessly or 66W via wired connection. In addition to dual SIM card slots, a nano-SIM card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, dual-frequency GPS, Near Field Communication (NFC), 2D face unlock, a USB-C port (USB 3.1 Gen 1), two-way satellite connectivity, and an IPX8 rating for water resistance, the Mate X5 also boasts a number of other features. When folded, the device measures 156.9 by 72.4 by 11.08 mm, and when opened, it measures 156.9 by 141.5 by 5.3 mm. The unit weighs a total of 245 grams.
The chipset that drives the Huawei Mate X5 is a mystery. The Kirin 9000s, which is also used in the Mate 60 series, appears to be the chip that drives this device. It is also unclear whether or not 5G connectivity is supported by the device. It has 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage space.
The Mate X5 has an 8-megapixel camera in its front-facing camera. There are three cameras located on the device’s back: a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilization, and a 50-megapixel main camera. The Mate 60 series also uses the same Harmony OS 4.0 operating system.
